A Brighter Tomorrow.
Healthier Moms and Babies is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering our community’s future by promoting the health and safety of today’s—and tomorrow’s—moms, babies and families.
Our Mission
To reduce infant mortality and improve the outcome of pregnancies in our community.
The Future of Firsts
For every 1,000 babies born in Allen County, 6 infants die before their first birthdays. Many factors contributing to our community’s high infant mortality rate are preventable. Healthier Moms and Babies conducted the Infant Mortality Study to understand how our community can better support our most vulnerable residents. The Infant Mortality Report explores the mental, physical, social and financial determinants that stop families from leading healthy, happy lives.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At Healthier Moms and Babies our mission is to reduce infant mortality and improve birth outcomes. Our mission is best accomplished through the fair and equitable treatment of all families so every individual irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or abilities has access to healthcare and social services. Our programs include strategies to educate, empower, advocate and prepare individuals during childbearing years and beyond.
We recognize infant mortality disproportionately affects members of our society who have long been marginalized including Black, Hispanic, and people of color, the financially unstable and underserved, immigrants and refugees regardless of documentation status.
Healthier Moms and Babies recognizes a diverse and inclusive workforce is where all agency affiliates, (including: staff, volunteers, donors, the board of directors, and clients), irrespective of race, religious beliefs, ethnicity, sex, national origin, sexual orientation and/or gender identity, age, disability or education are treated equally for their roles and contributions. We commit ourselves to a non-discriminatory policy ensuring all employees, board members, clients, donors and volunteers feel valued, included, empowered and respected, at all times.
We are influenced by each stakeholder’s outlook, insight and unique life experiences, which in turn will add value to Healthier Moms and Babies ability to implement innovative ideas for the fulfillment of our agency programs, plans, goals and overall mission. We will support efforts and work toward attainable solutions in ending institutional racism by supporting and advocating for changes of public policy and laws.
We accept our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion means we must make an ongoing commitment to constant learning. We acknowledge we will face challenges in fulfilling our mission but we are determined to identify, learn and improve from them.
